Longameta

Longameta is a Hungarian traditional bat-and-run ball game. Sources describe a small ball, a short bat, a rectangular field with baselines and scoring by running out and back while the other side tries to throw runners out. Modern organisation and uniform rules are weakly documented.

Getting started

Kurzbeschreibung Longameta is a traditional Hungarian bat-and-run game: hit, run, reach baselines and avoid being thrown out.

Geeignet für Suitable for sport history, school-sport reconstruction or groups that want to try bat-and-run games with transparent house rules.

Cost Low for material, but high in source/rule work: soft ball, short bat and markers are enough for a safe reconstruction. Not documented as normal club operation; costs depend on field, group and reconstruction context. No reliable modern club/federation pathway is documented in the catalogue. Do not fill gaps with baseball or oina rules unless clearly labelle…

First progress A simple reconstruction round works after rule clarification; reliable historical accuracy needs source work.
